In Support of Sport Relief, an initiative of Comic Relief, registered charity 326568 (England/Wales); SC039730 (Scotland).

It’s community-focused groups like Fresh and people like you who help to make Sport Relief the huge success it is. Right now, we need local heroes to volunteer as marshals and helpers at the Shepperton Fresh Mile on Sunday 20th March, as our determined participants walk and run 1, 3, or 6 miles to raise life-changing cash.

You’ll be part of a massive nationwide campaign, with cyclists, swimmers, celebrities and fundraisers of all kinds coming together to make Sport Relief 2016 the biggest and best one ever. Volunteering is fun and really rewarding!

Here’s what we’re asking
You (along with your friends and family) to be part of the organisational team that makes the Shepperton Fresh Mile run smoothly from start to finish. You’ll need to be 18, or accompanied by an adult (18+) and available to attend the event from 10am until around 2pm on 20th March. Perhaps you’re…

  • Good at cheering, clapping, encouraging and directing? Be a course marshal!
  • Organised, efficient, friendly and like meeting new faces? Be an admin volunteer!
  • Approachable and responsible? Help with the liaison and logistics!
  • Unsure? Don’t worry – you’ll be given full instructions and feel very much part of this exciting community event.

Smiling milers

There’s lots to be done as this year as we will be spread over three sites. Initially everyone will meet at Manor Park where participants will register and take part in a brief group warm up. The running route itself includes Halliford Mere Lakes and Restaurant, weaving through landscaped trout lakes, woodland areas and meadows (so picturesque and really worth seeing). The finish line is always a mixture of emotions: relief, accomplishment and smiles all round!

Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives in the UK and abroad. It all leads up to the Sport Relief weekend and a fantastic night of TV on the BBC.

If you would like to be part of Sport Relief 2016 as a valued volunteer at the Shepperton Fresh Mile, please download and complete the volunteer form, or  you can email Jo at Fresh for more details (or call 01932 225 953).

If you would like to run or walk (1, 3 or 6 miles), you can take part by registering online.
